A Note From Emily
Dear Book Club Members,
One of the things I love most about being a writer is connecting with readers, and there is no better way to do this than visiting a book club—whether in person or over the telephone. Since the release of my first book, I've had the pleasure of meeting over eighty groups of women—all unique in their own way. I’ve met college girls and seniors. I’ve met groups who discuss only the book—and groups who talk about anything but the book. And yet, despite all the colorful differences, the same themes almost always emerge by the end of the night. Romance, marriage, friendship, motherhood, careers. How difficult it is to balance it all. How lonely we can sometimes feel. Why certain relationships become toxic and what to do about them. How to manage our time, our hearts, our dreams. These are things I care about as a writer, and the stories I want to tell. Thank you for inviting me into your homes and sharing so much of your lives. It means so much.
If you belong to a book club and you’ve chosen one of my books to read, please send a photo of your group, tell me one fun fact about yourselves (how you met, a funny discussion, a favorite recipe) and what book you'd like to discuss—to emily@emilygiffin.com with "Book Club" in the subject line. I can’t promise to fulfill all requests, but I will do my best to either meet you in person or call-in for a quick chat. I look forward to hearing from you!
Warmest wishes,
